This history has quite a bit of facts out of place.
When Michael first opened the B&B in NYC, I was one of his clients, in fact for a good bit of time until I returned to the Caribbean.
I distinctly remember his partner (spouse) at the Salon much of the time, a magnificently classy beautiful lady. I also recall his accent was more South African than Brit; am keen on detecting accents as I have travelled about the global community (inclusive of Africa) since a tot. In addition, Michael had told me he was from Jo'burg, and had been doing my locks for a number of years. Most importantly stated incorrectly, 56th street was not his first Salon in NYC. The space was not tiny, was quite different and trendier as a Euro Salon (meaning simple but sleek & high tech) and rather a head of the times than most NYC shoppes. I always thought Michael to be brilliant, amazing and extremely talented; I knew I was fortunate to have him as my stylist. I am only sorry I never kept in touch as now residing in NYC & the Caribbean it would be an honour to have him as my hair designer-have never found anyone since quite as creative, having been to many other fine salons about the world. |
